How it Began…
On a sultry evening of April, we were reviewing our sales plan at our H.O, and the phone buzzed from the Architectural team of Larsen and Toubro’s Buildings and Factories Division asking us to meet for an upcoming fast-track project – FCS Integration Facility at ADF–DRDO in Bangalore.
The scope of work was monumental, involving the supply and installation of 5,500 sqm of 100 mm Rockwool panels for internal partitioning across a G + 6 structure. This demanded precision and expertise.
Challenges:
- Tight timeline: fully operational building in 45 days.
- Required meticulous planning, coordination, and innovation.
- Architects demanded perfection — every panel, flashing, and coving aligned with specifications.
Making things happen despite odds!
The project had multiple contractors managing steel, MEP, glazing, and doors.
- Work zone was 500m away from unloading zone, requiring careful logistics.
- L&T managed trailers and cranes with strict coordination.
How it unfolded
- Two skilled installation teams worked 18-hour shifts daily.
- Panels labeled and sequenced for each floor.
- Custom panels crafted for conduit pipes with special flashings.
- High physical and mental pressure, but team spirit ensured resilience.
Saga of holding into nerves
The site was a whirlwind of activity with tight deadlines and unforgiving conditions.
- Extreme weather challenges.
- Zero margin for error; precision was critical.
Outcome
- Metecno delivered the facility on schedule.
- Inaugurated by the Defence Minister.
- It became a symbol of quality, coordination, and efficiency.
